MONROE — A stolen Honda Accord wound up in Lords Lake on Sunday morning after a brief chase.

Officers were called at about 7:40 a.m. Sunday to the Twin Rivers Chevron station in the 17000 block of W Main St. SE in Monroe to investigate a possible altercation between two males in the parking lot.

The men got into their vehicles and sped north on Fryelands Boulevard. Before they got far, one vehicle, a red Honda, rammed the gold Honda Accord and knocked it into the lake.

Officers arrived and found the driver of the gold Honda, a 27-year-old Seattle woman, at the scene. Her companion, a 36-year-old Seattle man, fled on foot.

Police and K-9 unit “Nuke” tracked the man to where he was hiding under a house on Heintz Avenue. He surrendered without incident. The two explained they and another couple stole the red Honda that morning from a residence near the gas station. The gold Honda was reported stolen March 24 in Seattle.

Both people were taken to EvergreenHealth of Monroe with minor injuries. The man later was booked into Snohomish County Jail for trespassing and a protection order violation. The woman was released, with additional charges pending.
