Pedestrian struck while crossing I-5; driver also hurt

SMOKEY POINT — An 18-year-old man who was hit by a car on I-5 near Smokey Point this weekend was in satisfactory condition Monday.
The Camano Island man was at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
According to the Washington State Patrol, he was running across the highway for an unknown reason. He was struck by a Nissan minivan driven by a Burlington man, 33.
It happened about 6:45 a.m. Saturday just south of Highway 531. The minivan driver also was hurt. An update on his condition was not available Monday. The investigation is ongoing, State Patrol Sgt. Mark Francis said.
