COUPEVILLE — A 13-year-old boy was booked into a detention center Wednesday for an investigation into what authorities described as a “hit list” identifying five classmates.
Another student from Coupeville Middle School reported the list to her parents, police said. It detailed issues the writer allegedly had with several classmates.
Coupeville marshals took the boy into custody at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
He allegedly admitted writing the list, but claimed he was only venting anger and never intended to hurt anyone, police said. Students who were not named told authorities they knew the list existed but didn’t think the boy would act on it. No specific threats were mentioned.
The boy was released to his parents. Police said they’re investigating five potential counts of intimidating fellow students.
