Nature walk
Friends of Camano Island Parks members are leading a guided walk Saturday at Four Springs Lake Preserve, 585 Lewis Lane. Meet at 9:50 a.m. in the parking area. The walk is about 2 miles long and should wrap up by noon. No dogs are allowed. More info: www.friends ofcamanoislandparks.org.
Testing, testing: Workers have reached the next stage of a project that will allow vehicles on the right-hand shoulder of I-405 north during heavy congestion. Electronic signs are up, and state crews this week began testing them. When completed, commuters will have an extra lane to use for 1.8 miles of the evening crunch, from Highway 527 in Bothell to the I-5 interchange in Lynnwood. The signs will note when driving on the shoulder is allowed.
Volunteer training: Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County is offering community education and volunteer training classes beginning April 17. Classes are held from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Mondays through May 15 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 in downtown Everett. Classes are free to those willing to commit to 10 hours of volunteering. More info: Stephanie Civey at 425-259-2827, ext. 1013, or stephanie@dvs-snoco.org.
