LAKE STEVENS — The school board here plans to vote Wednesday on proposed changes to middle school boundaries.
The Lake Stevens School District has six elementary schools and two middle schools, so three elementaries funnel students into each middle school. A seventh elementary, Stevens Creek, is set to open in 2018.
A boundary committee has recommended that four elementaries — Highland, Mt. Pilchuck, Stevens Creek and Sunnycrest — send students to North Lake Middle School. Glenwood, Hillcrest and Skyline elementaries would feed into Lake Stevens Middle School. Changes would take effect in the 2018-19 school year.
Students already attending middle school would not be required to switch schools, even if they would have gone to the other middle school under the revised boundaries.
