Injured motorcyclist airlifted after collision near Stanwood

STANWOOD — A van and a motorcycle collided Monday along Highway 532 near the Stanwood park-and-ride.

The crash was reported about 11:45 a.m. just west of I-5, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Witnesses indicated the van ran a red light, trooper Travis Shearer said.

The motorcyclist, a 55-year-old Stanwood man, was taken to an area hospital in a medical helicopter. He had a serious foot injury. The helicopter landed at the Stanwood High School football field, according to the fire department.

The van driver, a 26-year-old Stanwood man, was unhurt.
