Anita Sheldon: In my eyes, you are perfect

We asked readers to tell us what they love about their moms. Kids from 17 to well over 70 entered The Herald’s Mother’s Day contest. The winner received a $100 gift card to Renee’s Contemporary Clothing in Everett. But there were many other heartfelt stories. You can find all of them here.
Daughter: Marilyn Sheldon, Tulalip
Mom: Anita Sheldon, Tulalip
In my eyes, she is perfect. She loves us unconditionally. Her life is around her family and what she can teach us to grow.
She is patient, kind and caring. She shares our culture willingly with those who ask. She was my Camp Fire Leader when I was young and my little sisters always participated with our group. We would sing Christmas carols to elders in the nursing homes, make all different kinds of creative arts and crafts, and drive everyone home. She helped the community with the Ladies Club – cooking for the elders and using the money to buy guitars, supplies for the community kitchen, and teaching her kids how to respect our elders. All these experiences have made me the person I am today. I am forever grateful for all her teachings. I love my mom and am very grateful for her every day. I love you, Mom.
