LYNNWOOD — Police believe a drug deal gone bad ended in gunfire that sent a teen to the hospital early Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. at a home in the 5900 block of 177th Street SW in Lynnwood.
A 19-year old man allegedly was talking with two people when one of the would-be customers hit him over the head with a handgun and tried to steal the marijuana, Lynnwood police said.
At one point, police believe the gun used by one of the assailants discharged, but no one was struck.
“As the two assailants fled the scene, the armed assailant fired additional rounds toward the residence,” police said in a press release.
No one was hit.
The 19-year-old man then armed himself and fired at least once, hitting one of the assailants, a 17-year old boy, police said.
The teen was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He is expected to recover.
The 19-year was treated at an area hospital for head lacerations.
At least one person was taken into custody.
Investigators were seeking a search warrant for the home.
