Kids can get a taste of show biz

Show Biz Kids 4-H Club meets next 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and every second Tuesday, at the Horseshoe Grange, 16424 Broadway Ave., Snohomish. Students in grades K-12 explore various areas of performing arts.

Talent show for Strawberry Fest

The Marysville Strawberry Festival includes a Talent Show at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the auditorium at Marysville Pilchuck High School, 5611 108th St. NE. More than two dozen acts are set to take the stage to perform and compete, including singers, dancers, bands, comedians and others. Contestants range from age 4 to adults.

Five judges will determine the top winner to participate in the Strawberry Festival Twilight Parade and receive a gift basket. There also will be first-place trophies in different categories and second- and third-place ribbons.

Admission is $5 at the door.

Camp Casey open house

Seattle Pacific University invites the public to visit the Camp Casey Conference Center on Whidbey Island, a historic military fort built at the turn of the 20th century, during an open house, noon to 4 p.m. Friday.

Fort Casey State Park, adjacent to Camp Casey, will offer guided tours of the fort at 1 and 2:30 p.m. The Admiralty Head Lighthouse located in the park will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

HEADS UP

Base plans naval exercise

Naval Station Everett is conducting a regularly scheduled exercise at 11 a.m. Thursday. During the exercise, Navy personnel and others who access the base should prepare for a gate closure lasting several minutes and possible traffic delays.

The exercise scenario will include the use of simulated gun shots using blank rounds, emergency response vehicles, and boat activity in the harbor.
