Abigail Brandt, a graduating senior from Archbishop Murphy High School, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Association of Washington Cities. She earlier received a $500 scholarship from the city of Mill Creek as part of the nomination process.

Brandt plans to attend the University of California Los Angeles to study pediatric medicine. The career choice was the result of personal experience. Brandt broke her ankle in seventh grade, revealing a rare nerve condition that landed her in a hospital for months relearning how to walk and run.
