Edmonds Underwater Park marks 40th year

The Edmonds Underwater Park, also known as the Bruce Higgins Underwater Trail System, celebrates its 40th birthday with celebratory dives at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The park is located just north of the Edmonds ferry terminal. A potluck barbecue follows at noon.

Fly into Arlington

The annual Arlington Fly-In continues Saturday and Sunday on the west side of the Arlington Airport, with entry off 188th Street NE. Admission ranges from $10 to $45 depending on length of stay and mode of arrival.

There are airshows, airplane rides, live entertainment and outdoor movies on the runway. The Grumman F8F Bearcat from the Historic Flight Foundation is among the visiting aircraft.

Genealogy group hosts potluck BBQ

The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society holds its annual barbecue, in lieu of its regular meeting, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 6111 188th Place NE in Arlington. The event is open to the public. Bring a side dish, dessert or beverage to share.

Women’s shelter seeks donations of food

The YWCA Pathways for Women shelter in Lynnwood is in need of these food items: peanut butter, canned chicken and ham, hearty soups, cooking oil, Hormel complete dinners, canned fruits, snack food, cereal and condiments. Donations can be taken to the shelter at 6027 208th St. SW.

Raffle aids food bank

The Edmonds Lions Club this summer will sell raffle tickets for $1 each to support the local food bank. Merchants have donated 50 prizes. Lions Club members will sell tickets at Saturday’s Wine Walk and at the July 15 Summer Market. They’ll also have a box out for donations of used eyeglasses.

Village offers classes

Village Community Services is offering several classes this summer in the Smokey Point area of Arlington. Classes are free to low-income participants. Registration is required. All classes run from 10 a.m. to noon.

July 13, “Community Connections”: Learn to safely engage others through email, texting, live streaming; search for a volunteer position or job; order a ride-share; or fill out an online application.

July 20, “Introduce Yourself to the World”: Create a simple resume.

Aug. 3, “Art and Success Part 1”: Experience what success feels like by creating a painting.

Aug. 10: “Art and Success Part 2”: Create a painting, adding your own vision.

Aug. 11: “Understanding Money”: Learn how to handle money emergencies and get and stay out of debt.
