Dragsters at the airport

The Arlington Drag Strip Reunion and Car Show runs from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Arlington Airport, 18204 59th Drive NE. Spectator admission is $3, $1 for kids.

The event, held the second Saturday in September each year, typically attracts about 300 cars and retired dragsters and more than 1,000 spectators. Thousands of dollars in proceeds go to local charitable groups and causes.

Book sale in Sultan

The Sultan Friends of the Library fall book sale runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the community room at 319 Main St. Bag sales start at 3 p.m. Find books, media and baked goods, too. All proceeds support Sultan Library programs.

Buy junk from a trunk

Marysville’s Junk in the Trunk community garage sale is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Municipal Courthouse parking lot, 1015 State Ave. Expect finer wares than actual junk.

Peruse up to 75 vendors selling second-hand and vintage toys, clothing, collectibles, furniture, housewares, sports equipment, books, games and more. There also will be new items that are homemade and direct sales.

Last story time in garden

The last Children’s Storybook Garden event is set for 11 a.m. Saturday in the garden outside the Arlington Library at 135 N Washington Ave. Young children are invited for stories, crafts and hands-on activities.

Expect boat launch delays

The city of Everett plans maintenance work on water lines from Monday through Sept. 29 at Rotary Park. The work may cause delays at the east boat launch; flaggers will be present. The park also will be closed the night of Sept. 18.

No interruption of water service is expected.

OPPORTUNITY

Learn emergency skills in Spanish

A Spanish-language class on emergency preparedness is planned to start later this month in Everett. The class is a first for the city of Everett’s emergency management department.

The free class runs Thursday evenings from Sept. 28 to Nov. 16. Participants may need to buy about $30 worth of supplies. Priority is given to those with addresses or employers within city limits. Registration is encouraged before Sept. 20. Apply online at www.everettwa.gov/emergencymanagement.

Whidbey genealogy group

Learn how to get genealogical documents into electronic format, organize them, and back it all up at the next meeting of the Genealogical Society of South Whidbey Island, 1 p.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church community building, at Highway 525 and Woodard Road, Freeland. Come early for an open forum at 11:45 a.m. to research and get expert help.
