1. Car names
You name your kids, your cat, your goldfish, so why not your car?
It’s time to show endearment to your trusty four-wheeled friend.
Oct. 2 is National Name Your Car Day.
Make a day of it. Go for a ride. Shine up your sweetie. Fill ‘er up. Or him.
It’s as easy — or hard — to name a Dodge as it is a dog, right?
Maybe your car will get famous someday, like Herbie the “Love Bug” or Bandit from “Smokey and the Bandit.”

2. Home sweet home
Give some TLC to your house.
The Seattle Home Show is Oct. 6, 7 and 8 at CenturyLink Field Event Center in Seattle. There are home improvement seminars, wine tastings, a holiday cooking competition and a “she shed” giveaway. More at www.seattlehomeshow.com.

3. Signal box
It’s a wrap.
The city of Lynnwood is having a public art ribbon cutting for its newest wrapped signal box at 11 a.m. Oct. 2 at Wilcox Park, 5215 196th St. SW. The colorful wrap was designed by students at Cedar Valley Community School.
This is Lynnwood’s third wrapped signal box. The first features butterflies and flowers by Cedar Valley students and is at the intersection of 196th Street SW and Scriber Lake Road. The second box is at Alderwood Mall Boulevard and 40th Avenue W. That one highlights the Interurban Trail with a design by artist Amy Pleasant.
Everett got its first signal box wrap in June at the corner of 41st Street and Colby Ave. The city’s traffic engineering division selected the scene showing Mount Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake.
