Inhumanely castrated goat, found near Arlington; owner sought

ARLINGTON — Animal control officers want to find the owner of an injured goat who was loose southeast of Arlington.
In late October, a resident reported the goat — black-and-brown, with horns, possibly a yearling Oberhasli — had wandered onto a property in the 13300 block of Jordan Trails Road, said Vicki Lubrin, manager of animal control services in Snohomish County.
Two nylon zip ties were found around his reproductive organs, leaving him with serious injuries.
“Obviously the goat didn’t do this to itself,” Lubrin said. “That’s why we’d try to identify the owner, to find out if this was an act of animal cruelty, or if somebody thought that’d be a way to castrate the goat.”
That’s not a humane method of castration. He was also malnourished, Lubrin said.
The goat underwent surgery, and he’s now recovering. He could for up for adoption once he’s in better shape.
