EDMONDS — An armed robbery of a towing business led to a lockdown of an Edmonds school Thursday afternoon.

Two men entered the tow truck business around 12:15 p.m. in the 20600 block of 48th Ave. W, according to Lynnwood police. They asked some questions. Suddenly, one of them pulled out a handgun and demanded money. They ran out with a box of cash and hopped into an older four-door gray car with discolored paint on the trunk, police said. It may have been an Oldsmobile.

Minutes later a Lynnwood officer stopped the car. A passenger jumped out and ran. The car sped off, with at least two more people inside. The officer chased down the running man. He was arrested. A check of his record showed a conviction for second-degree murder. The officer suffered a minor leg injury in the chase.

Meanwhile, police advised Edmonds-Woodway High School to go into lockdown, as a precaution. It was lifted minutes later.

One of the remaining suspects is described as black, about 6 feet tall, thin, in his 20s, with black clothes.

Tips can be directed to a Lynnwood detective at 425-670-5632.
