Fatally injured bicyclist identified as Granite Falls man

GRANITE FALLS — A bicyclist who was struck by an SUV earlier this month has been identified as Jeffrey C. Hemstrom, of Granite Falls.

Hemstrom, 60, had been riding on W. Stanley Street on Dec. 5. It was around 4:40 p.m. when he was struck. The driver called 911. Hemstrom was rushed to the hospital.

He died from blunt force head injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. His death was ruled an accident.

There was no evidence to suggest the SUV driver was at fault, the sheriff’s office said in a Dec. 5 press release. Sunset was around 4:15 p.m. The road was dark.
