Home-invaders pretend to be cops — then flee riled-up resident

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Two home-invasion robbers pretended to be cops when they woke up a man in his bed this weekend in Mountlake Terrace, according to police.
A sleeping man, 20, awoke around noon Saturday in a home off 52nd Avenue W., to find two men dressed in all black standing over him, according to a police statements filed in court Monday. They stuck guns in his face, and mumbled as if they were using police radios.
The man heard them say something about drugs and money, according to the reports. Once they turned their backs, he ran yelling for his mother. The intruders fled out a back door. The man chased them as they hustled into a green Chevy Tahoe. He flagged down a passing car and pursued them.
Police saw men exiting a Chevy Tahoe near Edmonds Community College, and a woman drove off, said police Cmdr. Doug Hansen. An Edmonds police dog found one of the suspects, 32. Officers arrested him for investigation of first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.
An iPhone and car keys were stolen.
The second gunman and the driver remained at large Monday. Tips can be directed to Mountlake Terrace police at 425-670-8260.
