Choices for vacant Everett council seat narrowed to six

EVERETT — The City Council has narrowed the applicants for a vacant seat to six finalists.
They are Ethel McNeal, William Morgan, Hillary Pirtle, Paula Rhyne, Tyler Rourke and Michael Trujillo. Seventeen other applicants did not advance. Six others either withdrew their names or did not show up for the meeting, according to the city.
The finalists are vying for the seat held by Councilwoman Cassie Franklin, who is taking over as mayor. They were named at Wednesday night’s council meeting.
They will be interviewed again during a public meeting at 3 p.m. Jan. 3. People wishing to submit comments on the candidates should contact council@everettwa.gov by 5 p.m. Dec. 29.
