Each holiday season, Advent Lutheran Church in Mill Creek packs and delivers the ingredients for a traditional holiday meal to about 225 families in south Snohomish County. On Dec. 16, it filled more than 700 grocery bags for the effort.

Volunteers of America identified needy families in the Mill Creek and Everett area to benefit.

Church members donate money for the program, which costs about $50 per family meal. Businesses such as Central Market, Lowes, Costco, Staples and Top Pot Donuts donated supplies and materials.
