2 names released from recent fatal crashes

EVERETT — Two people killed in recent crashes were identified Friday by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Walter F. Thaanum died when a Nissan Altima and a pickup truck struck him late Jan. 11, in the 18800 block of Highway 99. He was 51.
Thaanum, of Lynnwood, had been trying to run across the highway, according to Lynnwood police. The Nissan driver, 20, was suspected of being under the influence of cannabis and alcohol. He was arrested, but charges have not been filed.
Mohammad Nourouzee crashed off I-5 early Jan. 12, Marysville police said. His car barrelled down an offramp embankment and into another car on Fourth Street.
Nourouzee, of Mukilteo, died at the scene. He was 60.
