EDMONDS — A 200-foot section of Norma Beach Road could stay closed until late March, following a mudslide that hit Wednesday.

It’s similar to past slides along the road, said Jim Parker, the road maintenance operations manager for south Snohomish County.

The affected area is in an unincorporated part of the county, between Edmonds and Mukilteo. It’s east of Puget Sound Boulevard, on the 7000 block of Norma Beach Road.

County officials are coordinating with four homeowners whose access is restricted by the closure, Parker said. Public works employees plan to monitor the site daily and keep the road clear. They expect to reopen the road when the slope stabilizes and and the weather improves.
