LYNNWOOD — A fire that displaced a family in Lynnwood on Thursday started in the clothes dryer.

A woman and her two young daughters were home at the time and got out safely, said Leslie Hynes, a South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue spokeswoman.

They called for help around 1:40 p.m. after noticing smoke coming from the dryer. Firefighters stopped the flames from spreading through the apartment in the 16600 block of 44th Avenue West.

The family has found another place to stay, Hynes said.
