MUKILTEO — A 32-year-old Tacoma man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly kidnapped an Everett woman and threatened to kill her.

The 26-year-old woman was able to text her family, who then alerted police, said Lt. Rob Martin, a Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. The man and woman previously were in a relationship.

The county’s Violent Offender Task Force was able to locate the man’s car driving around north Everett with the woman inside.

The driver tried to elude police but was stopped and arrested near Paine Field Boulevard and Highway 525 in Mukilteo, Martin said.

The woman was not injured. The man was taken into custody. A handgun was located on the driver’s floorboard, Martin said.

The man will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail on multiple charges, including kidnapping, second-degree assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm, Martin said.
