Seattle Rose Society: The society’s annual rose pruning demonstration is noon to 3 p.m Feb. 24 at the rose garden at Woodland Park Zoo. Learn about the varieties of roses, cutting and pruning techniques. Get answers to your questions by rosarians. The Rose Garden is at North 50th Street and Fremont Avenue N. SCHOLARSHIP

Monroe Garden Club: The club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior or college student who is pursuing a career in some aspect of horticulture at an accredited college or trade school. Studies may include forestry, botany, landscaping, floral design, environmental studies, etc. Applicants must reside in or within 20 miles of Monroe. Deadline for application is April 1.
