Plant sale features students’ pollinator art

The Snohomish Conservation District’s annual Plant Sale was held Feb. 10. This year’s event included a youth conservation art contest open to students in Snohomish County and Camano Island. The theme was pollinators. Over 100 pieces were submitted. Winners were announced in four age groups.
Kindergarten to second grade winners: Allyson Cooke (first place), Scarlett English (second place), Emma Shook (third place), Sophia Hradec and Sebastian Marin (honorable mention)
Grades 3-5: Mattea Black (first place and People’s Choice Award), Sofia Scicchitano (second place), Roxy Folsom (third place), Madison Schalo and Isla Johnson (honorable mention)
Grades 6-8: Ellie Kwak (first place), Garret Gundesen and Payton Swift (second place, tie), Aubrey Nickerson and Molly Kernan (honorable mention)
Grades 9-12: Rylee Johansen (first place), Liv Hagan (second place), Jack Gardner (third place), Abigail Hutchens and Megan Eaten (honorable mention)
All entries were displayed at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds for event day. Winning pieces are on display through April 13 at The Loft Coffee Bar (1309 Hewitt Ave., Everett) to raise awareness of pollinators.
