PEORIA, Ariz. — James Paxton struck out seven in 4 2/3 innings and Mitch Haniger hit his first home of the spring as the Seattle Mariners beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Wednesday night.
Paxton allowed two runs on three hits and walked only one as he recovered from a pair of shaky spring outings.
Mike Marjama had two hits, including his second home run of spring to help pace the Mariners offense.
Taylor Motter added three hits and Guillermo Heredia had two for Seattle.
Ichiro Suzuki started the game in left field, but was removed after the first half-inning with tightness in his right calf.
