Vandals cause $7,600 in damage at Lynnwood park

LYNNWOOD — Somebody caused an estimated $7,600 in damage by driving onto the soccer fields at Martha Lake Airport Park earlier this week.

Snohomish County parks officials are asking anyone with information about who might have done it to phone in tips to 425-388-6600.

Parks authorities believe the vandalism occurred between Monday night and Tuesday morning. A similar but less-destructive incident occurred last year, county parks director Tom Teigen said. Parks officials are considering longer-term measures such as bollards to prevent it from happening again.

The park on 200 146th St. W. in unincorporated Lynnwood is on the former site of a private airport.
