MUKILTEO — Kamiak High School students plan a rally Saturday to discuss and protest gun violence.
“Never Again: Mukilteo” starts at noon on the band stage at Lighthouse Park.
The Kamiak students were inspired by the Stoneman Douglas students standing up and taking a stand so they decided to plan their own rally.
Mukilteo students have been affected by gun violence. Four Kamiak graduates were shot, three fatally, at a house party in July 2016. Paul Kramer, the father of Will Kramer who was injured in the Mukilteo shooting, will speak at the rally. Alexis Gemmer, who was at the party, also will speak.
Other speakers are Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Adam Cornell, state Sen. Marko Liias, Kamiak teacher Shan Ogelsby and Kamiak students Megan Yniguez, Alissa Kiser, Abby Selbeck, Ketta Davis, Cayden Tyler and Ellie Kunard.
A GoFundMe page for the rally raised $875 of the $700 goal in 10 days. The money is for T-shirts and event expenses such as renting a stage, microphone and speakers.
