Arlington Fire Department’s interim Chief Dave Kraski recently recognized several people with the Phoenix Award for life-saving measures performed in 2017. The three calls — two cardiac arrests and a river drowning — statistically have poor outcomes.
Dungeness Gear Works employees Larry Kappenman and Bob Fiarbanks and Arlington firefighter-paramedics Jason Abrahamson, Bob Beam and Steve Daggett were honored for their roles helping an employee who suffered cardiac arrest.
Arlington Fire Capt. Scott Hillis, firefighter-paramedics Daggett, Gregg Haddick and Andrew Shannon, and firefighter-EMT Al Chamberlin were honored for saving a 16-year-old girl pulled from the bottom of the Stillaguamish River by a family member.
Buzz Inn workers Kyle McReynolds, Jerry Larson and Meade Gould, restaurant patron Dani Crain, Arlington Fire Capt. Phil Knepper, firefighter-paramedics Shannon, Chris Dickison and Paul Hunsaker, and firefighter-EMTs Adam von Melville and Aaron Boede were honored for their roles in saving a member of the kitchen staff who suffered cardiac arrest.
