Holocaust stories of survival

Holocaust survivors and their family members will speak about their stories of survival this spring at Everett Community College.

The first presentation is at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday in the Wilderness room at the Henry M. Jackson Conference Center. Ingrid Kanis Steppic will share how her family helped hide 40 Jews in Holland as part of the Dutch resistance.

Other presentations are set for April 25, May 9 and May 23.

Mountlake Terrace officials host a Coffee with the City event, 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Recreation Pavilion, 5303 228th St. SW. Ask questions, give feedback or just listen.

Fire station open house

South County Fire holds a Neighborhood Night Open House, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds Fire Station 17, 275 Sixth Ave. N. The event includes tours, kids activities, 10-minute CPR lessons and health information.

Learn about Mill Creek projects

An open house with information on 2018 construction projects that will affect Mill Creek drivers is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall North, 15720 Main St. Learn about projects that will affect travel on 35th Avenue, Seattle Hill Road, 132nd Street, Highway 527, Mill Creek Boulevard and Main Street, among other spots.

WAYS TO HELP

Teen volunteer activity

Middle and high school students are invited to help make pop-up cards for hospitalized kids at a “T(w)een Make-It Thursday” event, 3 p.m. Thursday at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. Supplies provided.

Donate to book sale

The Friends of the Edmonds Library seeks donations to its ongoing book sale, including gently used books, CDs, videos, DVDs, sheet music, magazines and computer software. Proceeds benefit library programs and a scholarship fund. A drop box for donations is in the foyer of the library, at 650 Main St. Pick-up service is available for large donations.

Prevent violence against women

AAUW Stanwood-Camano invites the public to its next meeting, 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Camano Island Library, 848 N Sunrise Blvd. The topic is “Violence Against Women.” Two women who work to prevent domestic violence and abuse will speak. Bring a snack to share.
