Health Champions feted

As part of its 2017 Health Champions program, the Snohomish County Board of Health on April 10 gave out 11 awards to people and organizations that “go above and beyond minimum requirements to promote the health and well-being of families, employees and the community they serve.” The recipients are:

PAWS Wildlife Center, for being a disease prevention champion

Arlington Drug Awareness Coalition, for being an education and outreach champion

Bethany at Silver Lake, for being a healthcare preparedness champion

Granite Falls School District, for being a healthy eating and active living champion

Girls on the Run of Snohomish County, for being a healthy lifestyles champion

Tové Skaftun, of Community Health Centers, for being an immunization promotion champion

Nancy Miller and La Leche League, for being a maternal child health champion

Dr. Tom Tocher, of Community Health Centers, for being a provider and prescriber champion

Evergreen State Fairgrounds, for being a smoke-free environments champion

Rena Fitzgerald, of the Care Crisis Response Program at Volunteers of America Western Washington, for being a suicide prevention champion

Donna Wright, for being the first-annual elected official champion
