Student art on display
Thursday is the last day of the Everett School District High School Art Show. View students’ work from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at district headquarters, 3900 Broadway. An awards reception is set for 6.
Middle school art will be displayed May 3-18 with an awards reception at 6 p.m. May 14. Elementary school art will be displayed May 23 to June 7.

Hear from young authors
The Friends of the Edmonds Library welcome student authors from Scriber Lake High School at a program set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday upstairs at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main St. The latest student volume is “This is a Movement: Owning Our Stories, Writing Our Endings.” Admission is free.

Drop off unwanted Rx drugs
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday. People are encouraged to drop off unused and unwanted prescription medications to avoid having them get lost, stolen or misused. Drop-off times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among the participating sites:
• Arlington Police Department, 110 E Third St.
• Everett Police Department, 3002 Wetmore Ave.

Tour Edmonds schools
Edmonds School District Superintendent Kristine McDuffy leads a tour of Edmonds-Woodway High School and Westgate Elementary School from noon to 3 p.m. May 2. The public is invited. RSVP by Friday. Lunch and transportation are provided.

WAYS TO HELP
Volunteer at health fair
Volunteers are needed for United Way of Snohomish County’s Youth & Family Wellness Fair, which runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5 at Evergreen Middle School in Everett. Volunteers are needed to help with registration, welcome participants, assist at workshops, serve food, and more. Help also is needed with event setup the day before. Help AHS buy band uniforms
The Arlington High School’s jazz bands holds two performances of its annual Swing Into Spring dessert and dance fundraiser, 7 p.m. May 11 and May 12. Tickets are $15 and available at arlingtonsd16.revtrak.net.
This year’s event also features a silent auction to raise money for marching band uniforms. The current uniforms are nearly three decades old, and there aren’t enough to go around. Boosters hope to raise at least $106,000, the cost to replace just what they have. Students have raised $18,000 so far.
