Traffic signal near Alderwood mall to light up soon

A new traffic signal at a crash-prone intersection near the Alderwood mall should go live soon.

The signal was installed last year where the southbound Highway 525 offramp meets Alderwood Mall Parkway. But the finishing touches have waited for warmer weather, and so the signal has hung unused for months.

“We need to restripe the roadways to properly align the lanes with the signals, which means we need dry, relatively warm (50 degrees and rising) weather to do this,” said Tom Pearce, a spokesman for the Washington State Department of Transportation.

That work is expected to take place in a couple of weeks (weather permitting, that is). The work will be done at night to minimize traffic impacts.
