David Dilgard: Community treasure will be missed

I was saddened to hear of the death of David Dilgard, a real treasure of Pacific Northwest history.

Several years ago I spent a short time with him when I went to ask, since Everett is a bona fide hockey town now, if his Evergreen Cemetery tour might include a visit to the resting place of my grandfather, Albert Forrest, whose goalie skills were regaled in The Youngest Goalie by Brian McFarlane. I don’t think this visit quite fit into the focus of David’s tours. However, we had quite an exciting conversation about my Stecher relatives. He knew of their 1884 arrival in Lowell and their involvement in Snohomish River valley agriculture.

David will be sorely missed.
