Nearly 2,000 people attended the Everett School District’s 2018 Innovation Expo, held June 6 at Angel of the Winds Arena in downtown Everett. Judges considered 225 student projects for honors in categories that included engineering, experimental and research.

Gateway Middle School students Arjun Vinodhan and Sushmita Musunori each received Economic Alliance Snohomish County and Snohomish STEM Network Future Innovator Awards.

Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin presented Forest View Elementary School students Sofia Pasinetti and Ava Nowak each with the Mayor’s Award: Community Innovator Award. Superintendent Gary Cohn presented Evergreen Middle School student Teddy Jackson with the Superintendent’s Award: Exemplifying 21st Century Skills.

The STEM night also included information for families and school presentations.

Engineering winners: Taran Ubbi, Forest View Elementary; Mai Vu, Jaslynn Ho, Emerson Elementary; and Arjun Vinodhan, Gateway Middle (first place); Jasmine Park, Forest View Elementary; Noelle Werelius, Forest View Elementary; and Sushmita Musunuri, Gateway Middle (second place); and Trinav Banerjee, Forest View Elementary; Selena Bangerter, Sophia Giordano and Keira Canavan, Jefferson Elementary; and Aidan Witters, Evergreen Middle (third place).

Experimental winners: Saveliy Khomutov, Forest View Elementary; Dallas Kautz, View Ridge Elementary; and Hannah Trochmann and Haylee Kim, Eisenhower Middle School (first place); Amelia Ford, Forest View Elementary; Aubrianna DeCandia, Emerson Elementary; Whittaker Perrin, Cedar Wood Elementary; and Teddy Jackson and Ben Spencer, Evergreen Middle (second place); and Eva Wagner, Penny Creek Elementary; Kaiya Zerwekh, Forest View Elementary; Arjun Debnath, Cedar Wood Elementary; Samiksha Rao, Cedar Wood Elementary; Tyler Nelson and Gilbran Martinez, View Ridge Elementary; and Ayyan Naeem, Gateway Middle (third place).
