HEADS UP

Highway 92 closure

A 13-day closure of Highway 92 at North Machias Road near Lake Stevens is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Friday and last through 2 p.m. July 19. Unlike many other road projects, this fish passage project does not depend on fair weather.

The detour route for small cars and light-duty trucks will follow 44th Street NE, 127th Drive NE, 139th Avenue NE, 28th Street NE and Old Hartford Road.

Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will install a new, larger buried bridge over Little Pilchuck Creek to expand habitat access for migratory fish. The $6 million project also will restore the creek to a natural state and improve the road.
