Axes will fly

The Sultan Shindig is set for this coming weekend. The annual festival celebrates the city’s logging history and includes a carnival, food, crafts, live entertainment and logging contests, such as spar-pole climbing and ax throwing. Saturday events include a parade and a Bikers for Full Bellies motorcycle show to benefit the Sultan Food Bank. A car show is Sunday.

Street fair in Arlington

The Arlington Street Fair will be held on Olympic Avenue downtown this coming weekend. Find over 120 local vendors, face painting for kids and live concerts. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Fitness for free

Bothell Parks and Recreation offers free adult Fitness at the Park classes 11 a.m. Thursdays this summer at the Lytle House in the Park at Bothell Landing, 9929 NE 180th St. The program starts with gentle yoga Thursday. Other classes include belly dancing, cardio jam and Zumba.

National Night Out

National Night Out aims to bring people closer to their neighbors and build relationships with police. Communities across Snohomish County will be taking part in the Aug. 7 event. Organize and register your own party to have local sheriff deputies, police officers and firefighters visit.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), sponsored by Catholic Community Services, seeks people ages 55 and older for volunteer positions, such as drivers, peer-to-peer counselors, student mentors, food bank workers and more.
