EVERETT — The Everett Silvertips announced their 2018-19 regular-season schedule along with the other 21 Western Hockey League teams Tuesday morning.

Everett, the two-time defending U.S. Division champion and defending Western Conference champion, opens with a home-and-home series against the Vancouver Giants.

The teams square off at 7:30 p.m. at Langley Events Centre on Friday, Sept. 21, and reprise the matchup the following night at Angel of the Winds Arena at 7:05 p.m.

The Tips conclude their opening weekend with a 4:05 p.m. home game on Sunday, Sept. 23 against the Portland Winterhawks.

Twenty-nine of Everett’s 34 regular-season home games take place on a weekend date.

The WHL this season is reducing its number of games from 72 to 68.

Everett makes its biennial trip to the East Division in late October this year.

The Tips begin at Brandon on Oct. 19 and conclude the trip at Swift Current on Oct. 27.

The trip to Swift Current will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Broncos beat the Tips for the WHL championship in May.

The road trip also includes a stop in Saskatoon on Wednesday, Oct. 24 when the Tips will see former assistant coach Mitch Love who last month was named the head coach of the Blades.

The annual Teddy Bear Toss game takes place Saturday, Dec. 15 against the Seattle Thunderbirds. That is also Everett’s final game before the WHL holiday break.
