LYNNWOOD — A duplex in north Lynnwood caught fire Friday morning, displacing five residents.

Three people sleeping in the duplex were awakened when a passing driver stopped, honked and yelled that there was a fire, South Snohomish County Fire & Rescue spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. Two other tenants weren’t home. No injuries were reported.

Crews arrived at the 1900 block of South Lake Stickney Drive at 8:05 a.m. to find flames had broken through the roof, Hynes said.

The fire started in one unit and spread to another.

Twenty-seven firefighters were called to the scene.

The local chapter of the Red Cross was assisting the displaced tenants, Hynes said.

The cause was being investigated by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
