New foundation takes shape
The Mill Creek Police Foundation was formed in 2017 by a small group of local residents and business owners to help fund police needs that aren’t covered by the city budget. One of the group’s first projects was providing a kennel for police dog Bagira. Volunteers and further donations provided the labor and extra supplies.
The foundation, which now has nonprofit status, is raising money for other projects, such as the city’s all-volunteer Citizen Patrol, the Chief For a Day and police dog programs, and emergency preparedness efforts. Board members are needed, as well as volunteers to help with communications, photography and event planning.
