How to research family history
The Everett Public Library’s Northwest Room staff will lead a workshop, “Hands on History: Researching Family and Local History with ‘Ancestry Library,’” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The library is at 2702 Hoyt Ave. Staff will help patrons use the software. Those who are uncomfortable with computers can bring a friend to help them.

Slime-making workshop
The Hibulb Cultural Center is having a make-and-take slime workshop from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 11. at the center, 6410 23rd Ave. NE, Tulalip. Included in center admission.

Cat classes coming up
The Community Cat Coalition offers two free classes Aug. 18 at the Everett Public Library. An orientation to the group’s efforts to help cats is at 11:30 a.m., followed at 12:30 p.m. by a “Basic TNR: Trap, Neuter, Return” class.

Tricks to living with beavers
The Snohomish Conservation District offers free seminars for Lake Stevens and Mill Creek residents on “Living with Beavers.”
Lake Stevens: 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Lake Stevens Senior Center, 2302 Soper Hill Road.
Mill Creek: 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 5 at Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, 16018 Mill Creek Blvd.
If beavers are causing issues on your property, there may be free solutions to help you reach a peaceful truce.

Gala for art museum
The Cascadia Art Museum holds its annual gala fundraiser Aug. 25 at a historic Woodway estate. The outdoors event includes cocktails and wine, dinner, silent and live auctions and desserts. Tickets are $225 and up, and are available online or at the museum, 190 Sunset Ave.

Book sale aids library programs
The Friends of the Edmonds Library’s ongoing book sale changes up its display Sunday to a “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” theme. Find discounted books, CDs, DVDs and magazines. All proceeds support library activities, including children’s and adult programs, desks and other furniture, computers and more. The Edmonds Library is at 650 Main St.

Help make music
The Snohomish County Music Project welcomes volunteers. There are opportunities for audio-visual engineers, carpenters, event coordinators, painters and more. The Music Project is a nonprofit. Programs include music lessons for children and group music therapy for veterans and seniors.
