Tree tour of Snohomish
The Green Snohomish Group offers two tours using a newly updated “Trees of Snohomish Walking Guide,” starting promptly at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday from Looking Glass Coffee Shop, 801 First St. The tour and hot cider are free; donations will be accepted to offset brochure printing costs. Each tour takes about two hours.

Make FrankenFaces
The Everett Public Library hosts a “Make It, Take It: FrankenFaces” watercolor and pencil art project session from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at 2702 Hoyt Ave. Patterns and spooky music provided. Space is limited and registration is required. Children age 12 and older may accompany a participating adult. The program is funded by a donation from Schack Art Center.

Fire station open houses
Mukilteo firefighters will be flipping pancakes at their annual community breakfast, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Fire Station 25, 10400 47th Place W. Pancakes, ham and eggs. By donation. All proceeds support the Mukilteo Firefighters Benevolent Fund.
As part of Fire Prevention Week, there will be photos and tours with kids, Sparky the Fire Dog, safety information and more.

South County Fire plans an open house to mark Fire Prevention Week, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Martha Lake Fire Station 21, 16819 13th Ave. W, Lynnwood. Learn safety tips, take tours, learn basic first aid and more. Kids can try on bunker gear and spray a hose.

Bothell fire stations also will hold open houses, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be tours, demonstrations and raffles in which kids can win a ride to school on a fire engine. Locations are the Downtown Firehouse (10726 Beardslee Blvd.), the Queensborough Firehouse (330 228th St. SW)and the Canyon Park Firehouse (1608 217th Place SE) that is proposed for replacement under Proposition 2.

Understanding public records
“You Have a Right to Know” is the theme of a public records forum, 10 a.m. Saturday at the Camano Island Library, 848 N. Sunrise Blvd. Toby Nixon, of the Washington Coalition for Open Government, will lead a panel discussion about the Washington State Public Records Act.
