Driver dies after crashing into tree along I-5 in Everett

EVERETT — A person died after a car crashed into a tree along I-5 early Thursday morning.

No one else was in the 2013 Chrysler 200.

Identifying information was being withheld until the person’s family is notified, said trooper Heather Axtman of the Washington State Patrol.

The driver was southbound on I-5 in the Silver Lake area. The car went across a median near a rest stop south of the Everett Mall Way exit around 5 a.m.

The person died at the scene, Axtman said.

An investigation is underway.
