The 2018 Kicking for Cancer fundraiser raised $10,000 for the Susan G Komen for the Cure Puget Sound. The benefit for breast cancer research was started by Van Berman, now an eighth-grader at Centennial Middle School in Snohomish and a kicker for the Snohomish Panthers Junior Football Association’s Panthers Senior Red team.

Van collected pledges of $1,250 for each kick that he and his team put through the uprights during the Oct. 13 and Oct. 20 games. He kicked five times for points in the away game and three times in the home game.
