Remember Pearl Harbor
Veterans of Foreign Wars posts and their auxiliaries host a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day dinner, 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Martin-Osterholtz Post 9417, 301 Third St., Gold Bar. All are invited to attend. There will be a spaghetti dinner, silent auction, book sale and more. Donations accepted, with proceeds benefiting veterans.

Santa Run kicks off soon
The Arlington Fire Department each year escorts Santa through local neighborhoods on a decorated fire truck to gather food and monetary donations for the Arlington Community Food Bank.
This year’s Santa Run will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Downtown East neighborhood. Other neighborhoods will be visited daily through Dec. 16. Find a map and full schedule at www.arlingtonwa.gov/santarun.

Dinner benefit for the blind
Snohomish County Council of the Blind will hold a fundraiser on Thursday at Claim Jumper, 18725 33rd Ave. W., Lynnwood. The restaurant will donate 15 percent of pre-tax food and beverage purchases from diners who present a redemption flyer. The nonprofit also will sell $3 raffle tickets and $3 See’s candy gifts.
Proceeds will help local residents who are blind or visually impaired to attend a state convention.

Holiday meals for active duty military families
Active-duty military (E-1 through E-6) and post-9/11 wounded, ill or injured of all ranks and their families who register online by Thursday will receive a free holiday meal from Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront will distribute 400 holiday meals, courtesy of Safeway Foundation, to military families through its annual Holiday Meals for Military program. The distribution event will take place at Camp Murray on Saturday.
A bag of non-perishable groceries will be handed out, along with a gift card redeemable for the rest of the food necessary for a full holiday meal.

The Employment Network will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Fridays at the North Creek Presbyterian Church, 621 164th St. SE, Mill Creek. Free help with job searches, resume writing and interviewing.
