HEADS UP

High winds expected again

Gusty winds could cause tree damage and power outages Thursday as part of expected storm, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle.

A high wind warning is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Gusts could reach 60 mph. There is some rain in the forecast as well.

The weather service also warns that conditions could affect travel through Snoqualmie and Stevens passes, which are seeing snow.

Power outages can be reported to the Snohomish County Public Utility District at 425-783-1001.

SAT practice test

A free, proctored practice SAT test for college-bound high school students is offered at 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at the Mariner Library. The practice test takes four hours. Registration is required. The Mariner Library is at 520 128th St., Everett.

Sugar rush in Sultan

Stop by the library to make your own sugary architectural creation of graham crackers and candy and then take it home at the Candy Cane Workshop, 9 a.m. Friday at the Sultan Library, 319 Main St. All ages welcome.

Jellybeans as building blocks

The Darrington Library invites elementary-age children to build structures out of jellybeans and toothpicks at a sweet STEM program, 1 p.m. Wednesday. The library is at 1005 Cascade St.

The zoo comes to Lynnwood

Educators from Woodland Park Zoo will teach about an animal through puppet stories, and then let you meet and touch the animal in real life at an “Up Close Little Critters” event, 10 a.m. Dec. 27 at the Lynnwood Library, 19200 44th Ave. W.

Movie break

School’s out. Come to the Mukilteo Library to watch the movie “Coco” (rated PG) and eat popcorn, starting at 2 p.m. Dec. 27. The library is at 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd.
