Take a walk

Through December, the Adopt A Stream Foundation is offering free admission to the Northwest Stream Center at McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Enjoy a half-mile nature walk on an elevated trail through forest and wetlands. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Call 425-316-8592 to make a reservation.

Take a hike

Explore Cama Beach State Park with Friends of Camano Island Parks on a guided walk from 9:50 a.m. to noon Jan. 5, 1880 W. Camano Drive, Camano Island. The 2.7-mile walk begins at the northeast corner of the park and goes downhill to the Cut Off Trail, continues along Marine Loop Trail, followed by Bluff Trail and Old Entrance Trail. Shuttles will provide a ride back to the junction of Ivy Way and Dry Lake Road. A Discover Pass is not required. Wear appropriate clothes and sturdy shoes or boots.

Noon Year’s Eve for kids

Got kids? Celebrate the New Year early with a one-hour Noon Year’s Eve Celebration, 11 a.m. Monday at the Arlington Library, 135 N Washington Ave. This Music and Me program, for young children and their parents, includes movement, stories and songs. Kids can make noisemakers and count down to noon.

Elementary kids ages 5 to 11 are invited to learn about bridges, then form teams and build a bridge using K’nex building toys, 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Mariner Library, 520 128th St., Everett.

Memorial run

The annual Jayme Biendl Memorial Run is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 27 at the Skykomish River Park, 413 Sky River Parkway in Monroe.

The event honors Biendl, a Monroe correctional officer who was slain while on duty in 2011.

There is a Facebook event page called “Jayme Biendl Memorial 5K Walk/Run.”
