Volunteer with Point In Time

Island County Human Services is seeking volunteers for the annual count and survey of homelessness. The Point in Time Count will take place Jan. 24.

Volunteers are needed to go in teams to ask questions about where people slept the night before, how long they have been homeless and other questions about their circumstances. Training will be provided to volunteers the week before the count.

Get help enrolling in Medicaid and low-cost coverage plans through the Washington Health Plan Finder as well as food stamps and/or cash assistance from from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 15, 22 and 29 at Mountlake Terrace Library. Or get help with coverage if you already have insurance through the state. Free.

MLK celebration

A Martin Luther King Jr. celebration is planned at 7 p.m. Jan. 15, Edmonds Community College’s Black Box Theatre, 20310 68th Ave. W., Lynnwood.

The celebration includes dance, music and inspirational speakers. Featured speaker is Michael Benitez.

State of the City address

Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring will present his 2019 State of the City address twice this year. The address includes city accomplishments and what’s coming ahead.

The first event is at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Tulalip Resort Casino. It will be at the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce breakfast. Cost is $28. The second event will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Opera House.

Free wedding show

A free wedding show will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Marysville Opera House, 1225 Third St.

The event includes a fashion show, samples from wedding professional vendors, swag bags, tours of the Opera House and more.
