Water filtration plant roof collapse
Further testing continues to show the water is safe to drink after a roof collapsed under heavy snow at a city of Everett water filtration plant in Monroe, city officials reported. City staff inspected the facility Wednesday and are working to bring the affected area back into service.

Learn about orcas
Orca expert Howard Garrett will speak at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Garrett, of the Orca Network, will discuss changing attitudes toward orcas, current environmental hazards and more about these little-understood Salish Sea inhabitants.

Give blood
The city of Marysville and the Marysville Public Library are sponsoring a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the library, 6120 Grove St.
Coming out of the recent winter storms, hospital blood supplies are critically low, according to the city.

HEADS UP
Navy drills in Everett
Security exercises are happening at Naval Station Everett on Feb. 20 and 27, and on March 5 and 6. On those days, training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Entrances might be closed intermittently during this time. Those who are nearby might hear blank gunshots, loudspeaker announcements and sirens. There could be more security near the waterfront than usual.
