Light rail construction starts this spring
Sound Transit has scheduled a meeting on Tuesday to discuss upcoming work on the future light-rail line through Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace and Shoreline.
The gathering is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shorewood High School, 17300 Fremont Ave. N, Shoreline.
Additional meetings are scheduled in Mountlake Terrace and Lynnwood this spring, exact dates to be determined.
The Lynnwood light-rail extension is expected to start service in 2024.

Mukilteo club ribbon-cutting
Because of snow, the grand opening of Mukilteo Boys & Girls Club, 10600 47th Place W., scheduled for Feb. 15 has been postponed until 4 p.m. March 21.

Arlington Valley Road delayed until March
The ribbon cutting for Arlington Valley Road, a new route linking 74th Avenue NE to 191st Place NE west of Highway 9, has been rescheduled from Feb. 22 to March 15 at 2 p.m.
Stanwood High construction continues
Construction has begun on the new Stanwood High School. The contractor now is working on the underground elements. The goal is to open the doors in fall 2020. The estimated construction cost is $76 million.

OPPORTUNITIES
Teen volunteer hour
Middle and high school students in grades 6-12 can earn community service credit by helping out at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd., 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. first Saturday of the month, September to May). Help prepare crafts for library programs, pick up and clean up, sort books, and more. No need to sign up. Meet in the teen area.

Give to the fair
The Silvana Fair Board members are making plans for the Annual Auction, which will be held March 9 at Viking Hall in Silvana. The auction is the main fundraiser for the fair, which will be held July 27 with free admission and parking. Members will be out soliciting merchants for donations. Clean Air helps with fireplace replacement
Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is offering a $1,500 replacement discount to Snohomish County residents who replace an old, working wood stove or fireplace insert with a new, cleaner-heating device such as an electric heat pump; natural gas, propane or oil furnace; or natural gas, propane or pellet stove or insert. Another offer is a $350 buy-back reward if you recycle an old, working wood stove or fireplace insert.
